Agreement

By using elkriverliving.com, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site. These terms apply to everyone who visits the site, subscribes to the magazine, advertises with us, or sends us material.

Who we are

This site is operated by CJT Publishing, LLC, of Elkview, West Virginia 25071, publisher of Elk River Living — a free monthly magazine serving the communities along the Elk River in West Virginia, published since 2018.

Using the site

You are welcome to read, print, and share this site for your own personal, non-commercial use. You agree not to:

• Republish our content commercially, or present it as your own
• Scrape, harvest, or systematically copy the site or its images
• Interfere with the site's operation or security, or attempt to gain access to parts of it that are not public
• Use our contact form or email to send unsolicited commercial messages

Elk River Living as a whole — the selection and arrangement of each issue, its design and layout, and the text and artwork created by the publisher — is copyrighted by CJT Publishing, LLC. All rights are reserved. Reproduction of the magazine or of this site, in whole or in part, without written permission from CJT Publishing, LLC is expressly forbidden.

Photographs contributed to the magazine remain the property of the photographers who made them. They appear here by permission, given freely in support of the magazine and the communities it serves, and every photographer is credited by name in the issue. To reuse a contributed photograph, write to us and we will put you in touch with the photographer.

You may quote briefly from an article with attribution to Elk River Living. Anything more — reprinting an article, using a photograph, reproducing a recipe or a layout — needs written permission. Ask us; we are usually glad to say yes.

Trademarked names appear throughout the magazine and this site in an editorial fashion, with no infringement intended. All trademarked names remain fully protected.

Material you send us

Much of what makes Elk River Living what it is arrives from readers — photographs, recipes, letters, and stories about the valley. We are grateful for it, and we want to be clear about what happens when you send something in.

When you submit material for possible publication, you confirm that:

• It is yours, or you have permission from whoever owns it
• You have permission from any identifiable person in a photograph — and from a parent or guardian if that person is a minor
• It is accurate to the best of your knowledge

You keep ownership of what you send. We do not ask contributors to sign a license: by submitting material for publication, you release it to us for use in the magazine, on this site, in our digital archive of past issues, and in materials promoting the magazine, and you allow us to edit it for length, clarity and style. That release is given once, at the moment you submit.

Elk River Living is not responsible for unsolicited materials. We cannot return what you send, and we cannot promise to publish anything. Elk River Living and CJT Publishing, LLC reserve the right to refuse any idea, material or subject matter.

We do not publish content that is political or religious in nature — this has been our editorial policy from the beginning, and it is what allows the magazine to belong to the whole community.

Opinions expressed in Elk River Living belong to the author of the piece and are not necessarily those of CJT Publishing, LLC.

Subscriptions

An annual subscription to Elk River Living is $50 for twelve issues, mailed to the address you provide. The magazine itself is free at pick-up locations throughout the valley; a subscription pays for mailing it to you directly.

Payment

Payments are processed by Stripe and PayPal. We never see or store your full card number.

Delivery

Issues are mailed monthly. Your subscription begins with the issue following your order. Delivery times depend on the postal service. If an issue does not reach you, tell us and we will make it right.

Changes, cancellations, and refunds

You may cancel at any time. Write to us and we will stop mailing the magazine. Issues that have already been mailed are not refundable. We will refund the unmailed remainder of your subscription at the per-issue rate.

Please tell us promptly if your mailing address changes, so an issue is not lost.

Advertising

Elk River Living reaches readers at no charge because production, printing and mailing costs are offset by the participation of local businesses. Advertising is available in full, half, quarter, and eighth page sizes. Placing an ad is subject to these terms and to any separate agreement or insertion order.

• Elk River Living and CJT Publishing, LLC reserve the right to refuse any idea, material or subject matter, including any advertisement
• Advertisers are responsible for the accuracy and legality of their own copy and claims, and for holding the rights to any images they supply
• Rates, deadlines, artwork specifications and payment terms are provided on request — write to info@elkriverliving.com
• Publication of an advertisement is not an endorsement of the advertiser

Links to other sites

This site links to places we do not control — our issue archive on Issuu, our Facebook and Instagram pages, advertiser and partner sites, and grocery and delivery services. We link to them because we think they are useful. We are not responsible for their content, their accuracy, or their privacy practices.

Accuracy

We work hard to get things right, and we care about it. Even so, this site and the magazine are provided as they are. Details change — hours, prices, events, pick-up locations — and we cannot guarantee that everything here is current or free of error. If you find a mistake, please tell us; we would rather know.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, the publisher is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of this site. Our total liability for any claim relating to the site or a subscription will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of West Virginia, and any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Kanawha County, West Virginia, where the publisher is located.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The current version will always be posted here with the date at the top of the page.
